Final chance to have a say in Edenbridge medical services consultation

By Kevin Black in Local People

Edenbridge residents can comment on plans for future healthcare services in the town and find out about feedback so far at the final public meeting for the consultation on Tuesday April 25 , starting at 6.30pm at the Leisure Centre.

NHS West Kent Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) and Edenbridge Medical Practice, which are jointly responsible for providing NHS health services in Edenbridge, are consulting on proposals for basing health services provided at the Edenbridge War Memorial hospital and GP surgery in one location.

They believe the best option for Edenbridge is a combined hospital/surgery, in a new building on a new site. They are proposing a facility which can offer outpatient clinics and day care (such as intravenous drips provided on a daily basis), not currently available in Edenbridge. The meeting is on the eve of the closure of the consultation on April 26 .

Ian Ayres, Accountable Officer NHS West Kent Clinical CG, will talk through the proposals at the meeting and will present some of the feedback received so far. He said: “We have had more than 500 responses to the consultation and the majority support our preferred option, for a combined facility on a new site. We would like to hear from more people so please come to the meeting on 25 April or complete the questionnaire by 26 April if you haven’t done so already.”

Dr Simon Morrison (pictured), a GP and Partner at the practice for more than 30 years added: “This is an exciting, unique, opportunity for NHS organisations to work together to improve health services that will benefit people now and future generations. This meeting offers a final opportunity to ask us any questions before the consultation closes.”

Following the presentation by Mr Ayres there will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions of a panel that will include representatives from all the organisations involved. Tea and coffee will be served and booking is not necessary.

A full consultation document, and an online questionnaire to give your views on the consultation, are available on the CCG’s website at www.westkentccg.nhs.net/edenbridge , or paper copies can be picked up from:

The Eden Centre

Edenbridge and District War Memorial Hospital

A decision on the outcome of the consultation is expected shortly.
